Exhibits coordinator

Responsibilities

Humanities Texas seeks a full-time employee to perform a variety of responsibilities related to its traveling exhibits and other public programs. Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following: Communicate with existing and potential exhibit renters, including scheduling exhibits; conducting surveys; guiding organizations in developing supplemental programming; assisting venues with exhibit publicity; and identifying and soliciting new venues.

Coordinate shipping, receipt, and repairs of exhibits with exhibits developer/manager; oversee inventory of exhibit print materials; prepare print shipments and other mailings; prepare billing statements and record receipt of exhibit rental income; collect and interpret exhibits data.

Assist program director with research, development, and production of exhibits, educational materials, and supplemental publications; manage image/text rights.

Qualifications
Applicants must have a bachelor's degree in the humanities; excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and tasks; experience in an office setting; and the ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Ideal candidates will have some graduate-level humanities training; experience in cultural programming; proficiency with FileMaker databases; and expertise with Adobe Design and other desktop publishing software.

Exhibits Developer and Manager

Responsibilities
Humanities Texas seeks a part-time employee to oversee fabrication and shipping of its more than fifty traveling exhibits. Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

Coordinate all facets of exhibit shipping and receiving, including scheduling deliveries; maintaining shipping records; cleaning and repairing exhibits; and loading/unloading when necessary.

Design and fabricate traveling exhibits, including designing and producing text panels and interpretative labels; preparing photographic images; and constructing frames, display structure, and crates.

Qualifications
Applicants must have proficiency in woodworking as well as significant experience in exhibit or display design, fabrication, and installation; excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and projects; and ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Ideal candidates will have experience with traveling exhibits; training in studio art, graphic design, or related field; and expertise with Adobe Design and other desktop publishing software.
