How to apply
Any not-for-profit organization or institution is eligible to apply for a Humanities Texas grant. Though funded projects take many different forms, all are firmly grounded in the humanities and are directed to the general public, both adults and young people, outside of the regular school or college classroom. Programs targeting special audiences such as K-12 teachers, ethnic and community groups, or professional groups are also welcome.

Grant formats
Grant formats include mini-grants (up to $1,500) and major grants for community and media projects ($1,500 and up). For more information about these grant formats, review the frequently asked questions and the grant guidelines.

NOTE: Major grant proposals must be POSTMARKED no later than midnight of the application deadline. If the deadline falls on a Sunday, proposals will be accepted with the next day’s postmark.
How funding decisions are made
The Humanities Texas Board of Directors reviews major grant proposals; the Executive Director and staff, with the authorization of the Board, review mini-grants. 
Projects are evaluated on the basis of Humanities Texas's organizational mission and grants guidelines. Of particular importance are the quality of each project's conception and design, the strength of its humanities component, and the extent to which it will meet the particular intellectual, cultural, or professional needs and interests of its target audience(s) in Texas. Priority is given to applications from Texas-based sponsoring organizations.
