Long before written records, human beings preserved their histories through the art form of storytelling. Celebrations of Light 2010, Midland's annual character-based storytelling festival, offers students and citizens a common learning, language, and arts experience. Through participation in storytelling workshops, programs, staff development, and public events, audiences share stories and learn about our common experiences.

On Friday, December 10, 2010, at 7:30 p.m., the Pease Communication & Technology Academy (1700 Magnolia Avenue) will host a sneak preview night featuring storytellers Rex Ellis, Laura Pershin Raynor, and Antonio Rocha, as well as student winners of Midland Independent School Distict's storytelling contest. The following day, three storytelling concerts will take place at the First United Methodist Church (300 North Main Street) at 9:45 a.m., 1:15 p.m., and 7:00 p.m.
