On November 7, 2019, Pulitzer Prize-winning historian David M. Oshinsky, director of the Division of Medical Humanities at New York University Langone Health and a professor in the Department of History at NYU, will deliver the 2019 John P. McGovern Annual Award Lectureship in Family, Health, and Human Values at the University of Houston. Oshinsky, who won the 2006 Pulitzer Prize in History for Polio: An American Story and frequently presents at Humanities Texas teacher programs, will speak on "The Frayed Safety Net: America’s Public Hospitals on the Brink."
