The Humanities Texas speakers directory offers an array of scholars and experts prepared to provide public presentations on a wide range of humanities subjects. Lecture topics include Africans in Colonial Mexico; the invention of writing; maritime votive art of Mexico; Texas film; Latina writing in Texas; female legislators of Texas; Mexican Texans in the Civil War; small press printing in Texas; and the African diaspora.

Chautauqua sessions present the likes of Sam Houston and nineteenth-century Texas outlaw Belle Starr. Several speakers offer "how-to" presentations for communities interested in conducting oral histories or developing local exhibits.

The speakers directory makes these entertaining and informative presentations available at a reasonable cost, with a maximum honorarium of $300 for a one-day presentation ($400 if overnight travel is required). We also encourage organizations to apply for mini-grants to help defray these costs and to give us feedback on the presentations they host.
