Howard Jones is a freelance writer and former professor of history at Prairie View A&M University. He has written and edited several books on American and African-American history, and is an advisor to the archivist of the Barbara Jordan Archives at Texas Southern University. He is also a founder and secretary-treasurer of the Southern Conference on African American Studies, Inc., and serves on the board of the American Cowboy Museum.
