Since its founding in 1973, Humanities Texas (formerly the Texas Council for the Humanities) has published a number of books, reports, and monographs seeking to document the work of the Council and its grantees and to promote the humanities and humanities scholarship.

Conversations with Texas Writers
Humanities Texas’s most recent publication is Conversations with Texas Writers (UT Press, 2005), which includes interviews and photographs of fifty contemporary Texas writers who work in a diverse range of genres.

Humanities: The Newsletter of the Texas Council for the Humanities
In 2001 and 2002, the Council published a biannual newsletter; electronic copies may be downloaded here.

Texas Journal of Ideas, History and Culture
From 1977 to 2001, the cornerstone of the Council’s publications program was the Texas Journal of Ideas, History and Culture, a magazine published in the fall and spring. On the occasion of its 25th Anniversary, the Council published a special anniversary edition of the Texas Journal. Issues are available for purchase in Humanities Texas’s online publication store.

Other publications

Other books published by Humanities Texas include The Humanities and the Civic Imagination: Collected Addresses and Essays, 1978-1998; Texas Myths; The Biographer’s Gift: Life Histories and Humanism; The Texas Experience; Vietnam in Remission; and Preparing for Texas in the 21st Century.
