At 7:00 p.m., DACAMERA and Museum of Fine Arts, Houston present the Houston premiere screening of the new documentary Fanny: The Other Mendelssohn. This fascinating documentary illuminates the life and talent of a remarkable composer—Fanny Mendelssohn. Born in 1800s Berlin, she was hindered by societal constraints on women and overshadowed by her brother Felix, so her accomplishments were little known until feminist scholars discovered her. Following the screening, Director Sheila Hayman, Sarah Rothenberg and Rice Musicologist Marcia Citron discuss Fanny and the documentary. For more information contact DACAMERA.
