Education
From July 5–7, 2022, the Stanford History Education Group (SHEG) introduced social studies teachers to their Reading Like a Historian curriculum.
The webinars introduced participants to SHEG’s Reading Like a Historian curriculum, explored strategies for modeling historical thinking, identified approaches to facilitating discussion, and considered best practices for formative assessment with SHEG’s Beyond the Bubble assessments.
Like all Humanities Texas teacher programs, the webinars were teacher-centered, with an emphasis on developing effective pedagogical strategies.
The program faculty included Joel Breakstone, director of the Stanford History Education Group, and Teresa Ortega, assistant director of curriculum and operations at the Stanford History Education Group.
The webinars took place online from July 5–7, 2022. The schedule is available here.
The institute was made possible with major funding from the State of Texas with ongoing support from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
