On May 13, 2017, Dr. Susan Behrends Frank, curator at The Phillips Collection in Washington, DC, will give the inaugural lecture for the exhibition A Modern Vision: European Masterworks from The Phillips Collection at the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth.

The Phillips Collection, America's first museum of modern art, was founded by Duncan Phillips in 1921. The exhibition at the Kimbell will feature a selection of modern European paintings and sculptures ranging from the early nineteenth century to the mid-twentieth century. Works from artists such as Courbet, Degas, Delacroix, Van Gogh, Manet, Matisse, Monet, and Picasso will be on display. Dr. Frank's lecture will focus on Duncan Phillips's eye for talent and passion for collection.

This program is made possible in part by a Humanities Texas grant and is free and open to the public. Dr. Frank's lecture will take place at 10:30 a.m. on May 13, 2017, at the Kimbell Art Museum. The exhibition A Modern Vision will be on display from May 14–August 13, 2017. For more information on the Kimbell Art Museum visit www.kimbellart.org.
