In February 2015, Humanities Texas held two one-day teacher professional development workshops in Austin and Dallas focusing on U.S. involvement in World War II.
Faculty lectures addressed turning points of World War II in Europe, mobilization and the home front, the war in the Pacific, Texas in World War II, and American women in World War II. The workshop featured close interaction with scholars, the examination of primary sources, and the development of effective pedagogical strategies and engaging assignments and activities.
Workshop faculty included Maury Klein (University of Rhode Island), Arnold Krammer (Texas A&M University), Brian Linn (Texas A&M University), Todd Moye (University of North Texas), Joseph Pratt (University of Houston), and Nancy Beck Young (University of Houston).
