Honoring twenty-five of the more than two hundred writers who have called East Texas home, Literary East Texas surveys the literary accomplishments of writers who have lived in and written about East Texas and encourages viewers to take advantage of the diversity and richness of their literary heritage.
Literary East Texas features passages from works by East Texas writers accompanied by illustrative photographs taken by Nell Blakeley especially for the exhibition. Panel topics include:
Literary East Texas is an exhibition produced by Humanities Texas, the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, in association with Texas A&M University-Commerce, the Texas Joint Council of Teachers of English, and the East Texas Historical Association.
