The Portal to Texas History at the University of North Texas Libraries is accepting applications for its Rescuing Texas History program. Each award will provide up to $1,000 of digitization services to libraries, archives, museums, historical societies, and other groups that house historical materials. All of the materials will be scanned at UNT Libraries and hosted on The Portal to Texas History. The deadline for receipt of applications is August 8, 2022.

The Portal to Texas History is a digital gateway to Texas historical and cultural heritage materials belonging to over 468 partners that include museums, libraries, historical societies, government agencies, and colleges throughout Texas. It is largely due to partner contributions that the Portal has more than 1,780,000 items consisting of 36 types of materials including photographs, maps, books, letters, manuscripts, artifacts, and newspapers. These materials date from the fifteenth century to the present. The Portal’s mission is to provide free online access to Texas history materials to be used by researchers, educators, students, and the public.
