On May 13, 2017, Dr. Susan Behrends Frank, curator at The Phillips Collection in Washington, DC, will give the inaugural lecture for the exhibition A Modern Vision: European Masterworks from The Phillips Collection at the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth.
The Phillips Collection, America's first museum of modern art, was founded by Duncan Phillips in 1921. Works from artists such as Courbet, Degas, Delacroix, Van Gogh, Manet, Matisse, Monet, and Picasso will be on display. Dr. Frank's lecture will focus on Duncan Phillips's eye for talent and passion for collection.
This program is made possible in part by a Humanities Texas grant and is free and open to the public. Dr. Frank's lecture will take place at 10:30 a.m. on May 13, 2017, at the Kimbell Art Museum.
