On April 26, 2021, The University of Texas at Arlington's Center for Theory and UTA Libraries will host a virtual lecture titled "Music by Numbers: A Conversation About Music Industry Data Archives." Featuring David Arditi, associate professor of sociology and anthropology at UT Arlington, and Richard Osborne, senior lecturer in popular music at Middlesex University London, "Music by Numbers" will explore the role that recording industry data plays in shaping public opinion and public policy. Both scholars in music industry history and culture, Arditi and Osborne will discuss how industry sales and reports affect musicians, from those signed with large record labels to those working independently.

This event is free, open to the public, and will be held virtually on Microsoft Teams. To attend, join via this link at 12 p.m. CT on
Monday, April 26.

This program is made possible in part by a Humanities Texas grant.
