On April 17, 2015, Humanities Texas held a one-day workshop in San Antonio covering Texas history in the twentieth century.

Topics addressed included Texas politics in the 1940s and 1950s, the civil rights movement in Texas, Latinos and Latinas in modern Texas, boom and bust in Texas industry, and the emergence of two-party Texas. Teachers received books and other instructional materials and were trained in the examination and interpretation of primary sources.

Workshop faculty included Nancy Beck Young and Joseph A. Pratt of the University of Houston, Michael L. Gillette (Humanities Texas), Gabriela Gonzalez (The University of Texas at San Antonio), and Chase Untermeyer (former U.S. ambassador to Qatar).
