On June 25, twenty-four high school teachers attending a summer seminar on U.S. foreign policy since 1898 visited the Byrne-Reed House to learn more about Humanities Texas's resources for educators. The seminar, which was organized by the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, the LBJ School of Public Affairs, and The University of Texas at Austin Department of History, was directed by Jeremi Suri, Mack Brown Distinguished Professor for Global Leadership, History, and Public Policy at UT Austin. The teachers participating in the seminar represented seventeen states, as well as Bangladesh and Hong Kong. During their week in Austin, they studied with UT Austin faculty, developed new lesson plans related to U.S. foreign policy, and also visited the LBJ Presidential Library, the Dolph Briscoe Center for American History, and the Harry Ransom Center.
