The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) invites institutions affected by the devastating July 2025 floods in Central Texas to apply for fast-track emergency grants to preserve and protect humanities collections at libraries, museums, colleges, universities, historical societies, and other cultural organizations.
Cultural institutions in FEMA-designated disaster areas of Texas can apply immediately for NEH Chairman's Disaster Recovery Grants for Humanities Collections of up to $30,000 to preserve documents, books, photographs, artworks, historical objects, audiovisual media, and digital collections damaged by the floods. Organizations providing preservation assistance for affected humanities collections are also eligible to apply.
This special Chairman's Grant opportunity will be open until January 26, 2026, with applications accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis. Application instructions are posted on the NEH website.
These funds may be used for activities such as drying, cleaning, and packing humanities collections, transferring artifacts to temporary storage, or consulting with conservators and preservation professionals.
Applications will be reviewed as they are received. To submit an application or for additional information, contact preservation@neh.gov.
