The Texas State Library and Archives Commission announces the debut of Texas in Transition: Railroads, Oil, and the Rise of Urban Texas. This educational website provides lesson plans and activities that support the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) curriculum for seventh-grade Texas history. It features historical archival documents and images from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, a period of intense change that transformed Texas from a predominantly rural state into a modern industrial power. The website was developed in partnership with Education Service Center, Region 20 (ESC-20) and a 2010 Linden Heck Howell Texas History Grant from Humanities Texas.
