On May 14, 2013, guests gathered at the Byrne-Reed House to bid farewell to David and Jane Oshinsky. David, a Pulitzer Prize-winning historian, has been a good friend of Humanities Texas during his time in Austin. He has served on the faculty of four of our summer teacher institutes and has given a series of public lectures around the state. He joined The University of Texas at Austin's history department faculty in 2000, where he holds the Jack S. Blanton Chair in History. This fall, he and Jane will move to New York, where David will head the Division of Medical Humanities in the Department of Medicine at New York University.
