Preservation Texas and MINDPOP are hosting the Creative Spaces Summit on July 24–25 in Fort Worth. This event will explore how historic spaces across Texas are being reimagined as dynamic hubs for art, culture, and community. Attendees will gain insight into innovative funding models, creative organizational development strategies, and inspiring adaptive reuse case studies from communities of all sizes.
On Friday, July 25, Humanities Texas Director of Exhibitions Andrew Ross will present illustrated case studies highlighting historic and nontraditional structures that have hosted Humanities Texas-affiliated exhibitions in creative and site-specific ways. The aim is to inspire organizations to reimagine how they can adapt their unique spaces for engaging displays.
West Texas Rural Philanthropy Days is an event designed, organized, and funded by community leaders in West Texas to strengthen nonprofit and philanthropic efforts across the region. It provides rural nonprofits access to funding sources, opportunities for collaboration, and capacity-building services, enabling them to more effectively meet the needs of the communities they serve.
Humanities Texas Board Member Ellen Ramsey and Executive Director Eric Lupfer will attend the 2025 Rural Philanthropy Conference in Marathon on July 24–25. The convening will cover legislative updates, rural partnerships, innovative technology, and planned giving strategies, offering valuable insights and connections for nonprofits and funders alike.
The Community Foundation of Abilene will host SPUR—an educational workshop for nonprofit organizations in rural communities across West-Central Texas—in Sweetwater from August 6–8. Session topics include board governance, capacity building, marketing and communications, development, and donor stewardship. Humanities Texas Board Member Ellen Ramsey and Grants Program Officer Jade Trent will be in attendance.
The second annual South Texas Public History, Culture, Heritage, Archives, and Museums Summit will be held on August 7 at South Texas College in McAllen. Attendees from area nonprofits, as well as local and state agencies, will learn about grants and other resources available to support heritage and cultural programming and preservation initiatives in South Texas. Humanities Texas Director of Grants Marco Buentello will present alongside representatives from the Texas Commission on the Arts, the Texas Historical Commission, and the Texas Historical Foundation.
