Join us at the Texas Book Festival on November 15, 2026, for a conversation with acclaimed historian H. W. Brands on the legacy of our nation's first president. In American Patriarch: The Life of George Washington, Brands traces Washington's path from nobleman and military officer to commander of the Continental Army and, ultimately, president of the United States. Through a remarkable cast of historical figures, Brands paints a vivid portrait of the reluctant leader whose influence helped lay the foundation for the American republic and life as we know it. The conversation will be moderated by Mark K. Updegrove, chairman and CEO of the LBJ Foundation.
