“Zoot Suit Army ‘Surrenders’ in Los Angeles,” 1943.

This 1943 Sweetwater Reporter article describes a parade following the Zoot Suit Riots by fifty-three representatives of east Los Angeles. After thousands of white servicemen and civilians terrorized and attacked Mexican Americans in zoot suits, gang representatives calling for an end to the violence drove through downtown Los Angeles bearing white banners and American flags as a sign of peace.
