Governor George Wallace Attempting to Block Integration at the University of Alabama, 1963

George Wallace, governor of Alabama, ran for president on an independent party ticket in 1968. He supported segregation and is best known for standing in the doorway of the University of Alabama to prevent African American students from entering. General Curtis LeMay served as his running mate.
