Teaching Evidence-Based Reading Practices at the Secondary Level (Summer 2026 Webinar Series)

From July 7–8, 2026, Humanities Texas held a webinar series on teaching reading at the sixth-, seventh-, and eighth-grade levels for both social studies and English language arts (ELA) teachers in partnership with the Meadows Center for Preventing Educational Risk at The University of Texas at Austin.

Curriculum

Sessions included interactive presentations on research-based approaches to teaching reading and content-area literacy with an emphasis on social studies texts. Faculty presentations focused on developing students’ word study, vocabulary, and comprehension skills.

Like all Humanities Texas teacher programs, the webinar series emphasized developing effective pedagogical strategies. The schedule is available here.
