Texas History for Teachers (TX4T) Classroom Resources (Summer 2026 Webinar Series)

From July 7–8, 2026, Humanities Texas held a webinar series offering an in-depth introduction to Texas History for Teachers (TX4T). TX4T is a freely available online resource that provides authoritative, evidence-based historical content and best-practices pedagogical resources for teaching and learning Texas history. The project is a collaboration between the UNT History Department, UNT Libraries, and The Portal to Texas History.

Curriculum

Content aligned with the TEKS. Sessions included:

• July 7: Getting to Know the Texas History for Teachers Project—This session will cover the ideas and approaches behind the Texas History for Teachers Project, explore the educational philosophies behind how curriculum materials are developed, explore the site’s organization, and demonstrate the variety of materials available for social studies classrooms.
• July 8: Using the Texas History for Teachers Project in Your Classroom—This session will cover how to bring TX4T resources into your classroom. Breaking down the content for particular units, the webinar will explore specific lessons, resources, videos, virtual field trips, and other available materials. Participants will learn in-depth how to use TX4T materials most effectively in the classroom and for students’ needs.

Like all Humanities Texas teacher programs, the webinar series emphasized developing effective pedagogical strategies. The schedule is available here.
