On February 22, 2023, Humanities Texas will hold a webinar for social studies and English language arts teachers on the major speeches of Ronald Reagan.
The webinar will take place over Zoom from 5–6:15 p.m.
Content will be aligned with the TEKS. The webinar will offer specific suggestions for teaching Reagan’s most significant oratorical works, focusing on their historical context and the rhetorical strategies deployed. The program will consider these speeches’ role in Reagan's legacy and highlight the most important takeaways for middle and high school students.
Like all Humanities Texas teacher programs, the webinars will be content-based and teacher-centered, with an emphasis on developing effective pedagogical strategies.
Jeremi Suri (The University of Texas at Austin) will lead the webinar.
The webinar is open to secondary-level teachers in Texas schools.
The webinar is free to teachers and their schools. Participants will receive CPE credit and a wealth of curricular materials. CPE hours will be adjusted if a participant misses any portion of the program.
Complete the online application. Please apply as soon as possible, as registration will occur on a rolling basis. Depending on the number of applicants, Humanities Texas may have to limit attendance for the online program.
The webinar is made possible with major funding from the State of Texas with ongoing support from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
