On April 3, 2014, Humanities Texas held a one-day workshop in Houston covering Texas history in the twentieth century.

Topics addressed included Texas at the turn of the twentieth century, Progressive-Era reform movements, Texas during World War II, the emergence of two-party Texas, and other topics central to the state cirriculum standards. Teachers received books and other instructional materials and were trained in the examination and interpretation of primary sources.

Workshop faculty included Alwyn Barr (Texas Tech University), Sean P. Cunningham (Texas Tech University), George Green (The University of Texas at Arlington), and Nancy Beck Young (University of Houston).
