El Diario-La Prensa, Telegram to Lee White, 1965

El Diario-La Prensa, the oldest Spanish-language daily print news organization in the United States, contacts White House advisor Lee White in order to discuss civil rights matters affecting Puerto Ricans. The newspaper asks President Lyndon B. Johnson to consider the voting rights of Puerto Ricans during the State of the Union Address and calls for an end to English-literacy tests as a requirement for voter registration.
