Galis-Menendez Family, Letter to President Lyndon B. Johnson and Reponse, 1965

Three refugee children of a Cuban physician still trapped within Fidel Castro’s communist regime wrote a letter to President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1965. Because of their mother’s failing health, Susanna, Armando, and Roxana Galis-Menendez asked that President Johnson personally devise and implement a plan to extract Dr. Armando Rafael Galis-Menendez from Cuba. Also included is a doctor’s note, which confirms the diagnosis of the children’s mother, and President Johnson’s response.
