On February 20, 2025, Humanities Texas held a webinar on using AI technologies in the humanities classroom and considering the role of AI in teaching research and writing at the secondary level.
The program for social studies and English language arts teachers provided strategies to help teachers and students navigate new AI technologies. Content was aligned with secondary TEKS. The webinar supported students' development in the skills of digital and media literacy, critical thinking and analysis, and research and writing.
Like all Humanities Texas teacher programs, the webinar emphasized close interaction with scholars, the examination of texts, and the development of effective pedagogical strategies and engaging assignments and activities.
Casey Boyle of The University of Texas at Austin led the webinar.
The webinar took place over Zoom on February 20, 2025. The schedule is available here.
The webinar was made possible with major funding from the State of Texas with ongoing support from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
