On July 4, 2026, our nation will commemorate and celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The journey toward this historic milestone is an opportunity to pause and reflect on our nation’s past, honor the contributions of all Americans, and look ahead toward the future we want to create for the next generation and beyond.
America250 will foster shared experiences that spark imagination, showcase the rich tapestry of our American stories, inspire service in our communities.
Throughout 2025–2026, Humanities Texas is hosting a series of teacher professional webinars commemorating the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution.
A Joint Resolution of the 87th Texas Legislature, SCR23, signed by Governor Greg Abbott on May 28, 2021, established the Texas America250 Commission, "to help celebrate the semiquincentennial of the United States." Events that encourage celebration, reflection, and commemoration are being encouraged and planned at local and statewide levels.
