Social Annotation Tools for Writing Instruction (Fall 2023 Webinar)

 
On November 8, 2023, Humanities Texas will hold a webinar introducing a variety of social annotation tools for research and writing instruction at the secondary level.

Schedule and Curriculum

The webinar will take place over Zoom from 5:00–6:15 pm CT on Wednesday, November 8, 2023.

Content will be aligned with the TEKS. The program for social studies and English language arts teachers will provide strategies to help teachers and students use social annotation tools for collaborative notetaking, peer-to-peer discussion, and engaged interaction with texts. The webinar will support students' development in the skills of digital and media literacy, critical thinking and analysis, and research and writing.

Like all Humanities Texas teacher programs, the webinar will emphasize close interaction with scholars, the examination of texts, and the development of effective pedagogical strategies and engaging assignments and activities.

Faculty

Amanda Licastro of Swarthmore College will lead the webinar.

Eligibility

The institute is open to secondary-level social studies and English language arts teachers in Texas schools. 

Attendance and CPE Credit

The online program is free to teachers and their schools. Participants will receive CPE credit and a wealth of curricular materials. CPE hours will be based on Zoom attendance and adjusted if a participant misses any portion of the program. In order to attend the webinar and receive CPE credit, you must be a registered participant.
