From July 7–8, 2026, Humanities Texas will hold a webinar series offering an in-depth introduction to Texas History for Teachers (TX4T). TX4T is a freely available online resource that provides authoritative, evidence-based historical content and best-practices pedagogical resources for teaching and learning Texas history. The project is a collaboration between the UNT History Department, UNT Libraries, and The Portal to Texas History.
The webinar series will take place over Zoom on July 7 and 8 from 10:00–11:30 a.m. CT.
Teachers who register for the program will be encouraged, but not required, to attend both sessions.
Content will align with the TEKS. Like all Humanities Texas teacher programs, the webinar series will be teacher-centered, with an emphasis on developing effective pedagogical strategies.
Andrew J. Torget (The University of North Texas) and Courtney Abubakar (TX4T curriculum developer) will lead the webinar.
The webinar series is open to secondary-level humanities teachers in Texas schools.
The online program is free to teachers and their schools. Participants will receive CPE credit and a wealth of curricular materials. CPE hours will be based on Zoom attendance and adjusted if a participant misses any portion of the program. In order to attend the webinar series and receive CPE credit, you must be a registered participant.
